PEOPLE I SAW BUT NEVER MET

Today I made the most lovely discovery literally on my front doorstep! In the art gallery next door to my house was the final day of the most breathtaking exhibition by sculptor Zadok Ben-David.

The work was called People I Saw but Never Met. They were 2D sculptures based on people-watching-inspired-sketches.  And when placed together in a crowd and viewed from differing perspectives, you could see right through through some people, and watch others slowly disappear as you looked across them from a side angle.  I could have stayed there for hours, mesmerised as new stories and characters appeared and disappeared.

And I loved what he has to say about his work in this article below too..

“I’m sure that given time I’ll have more perspective to what I’m doing, because quite often artists are not 100 per cent conscious (of their intent),” he says.

“I hope I’ll never be 100 per cent conscious to what I’m doing otherwise there’s no interest. There’s a lot of mystery, a lot of discovery, and also when I hear or read what other people write or say, I can see another angle and learn from something else."
